Auto leasing poised for rebound
Leasing volume has been a mixed bag for lessors through the first few months of 2007, though it is starting to pick up, the publication AutoNews Financing reports. Captives’ incentives used to boost sales of certain vehicles are putting pressure on banks and independent lessors to find new avenues for spurring lease growth. Still, lessors expect lease volume to increase through the year progresses, the publciation says. After hitting an all-time low in January, leasing volume began to rebound at Credit Union Leasing of America, Greg Gandolfo, vice president of business development at the San Diego-based financier, tells AutoFinance. Monthly volume was up between 30 percent and 35 percent in April compared with January, he said.
