  • Ford’s 2008 Warriors in Pink campaign generated more than $1.8 million in donations for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, nearly tripling last year’s efforts
  • Donations help fund important research and community outreach programs aimed at saving lives and ending breast cancer forever

DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 23, 2008 – Pam Ruthven, of Beverly Hills, Mich., plans to give a dear friend a very meaningful gift this holiday season – a beautiful woven scarf from Ford’s Warriors in Pink apparel line.

“One of my very good friends was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago, and she got through it,” Ruthven said. “Every year we exchange Christmas presents, and this year I wanted to give her something that had special meaning as opposed to just another trinket.”

All of the net proceeds from Warriors in Pink merchandise – including the scarf that Ruthven bought for her friend – support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the fight against breast cancer.

Ford’s Warriors in Pink Campaign

Wed, 10/17/2007 – 4:30am by BuzzSugar

In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’ll be featuring people and products from pop culture that have to do with the disease — those who have beaten it, have been touched by it, or are working toward finding a cure.

Today, the spotlight is on Ford’s Warriors in Pink campaign, which has successfully brought entertainers from all corners of pop culture into the fight against breast cancer. Last year, the campaign convinced the cast of Grey’s Anatomy to wear its pink gear in an ad campaign, and the show also devoted a large part of one episode to a breast cancer story.

This year, the campaign recruited Kelly Clarkson to spread the word about the campaign through magazine ads and a video reminding all women to be mindful of their breast cancer risk. Warriors in Pink is also auctioning off mini Mustangs signed and decorated by entertainers including Clarkson, the casts of Grey’s and Desperate Housewives, and Courteney Cox and David Arquette, among others. The campaign is also sponsoring a special all-pink Deal or No Deal this Friday night.

It doesn’t hurt that the campaign’s logo is pretty cool, to boot — here’s a handy guide to what all the symbols mean. To watch Clarkson’s Warriors in Pink ad and see a gallery of some of the mini Mustangs up for auction, just

Did You Know?

To celebrate October as breast cancer awareness month, we are introducing a multifaceted “Warriors in Pink” campaign for Susan G. Komen for the Cure kicks, enlisting the help of singer Kelly Clarkson and hit NBC game show Deal or No Deal. The campaign includes the launch of a MySpace page where “friends” can share their own breast cancer stories, and virally spreading the Clarkson PSA on the Web. The “face” of the campaign is Kelly Clarkson, who is featured in a TV PSA, print ads, and on Fordcares.com. In addition, a special episode of Deal or No Deal dedicated to breast cancer awareness and Warriors in Pink is scheduled to air October 19th.
